Our Firm represented creditor’s with significant financial and policy interest on the PROMESA proceedings, including AMPR, AMPR Local-Sindical and AFT, which served as members of the Unsecured Creditor's Committee in the PROMESA case and WorldNet Communications.

  • Wiscovitch v. Municipio de San Juan et als, 18-1029 (RAM). After a Five (5) Day Federal Jury Trial, successfully obtained a Jury Verdict of no civil liability in favor of former Mayor of San Juan, on alleged violations of 1983 Claims.
  • AMPR v. The Financial Oversight and Management Board of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, 17-BK-3283 (Docket No. 3914) In a proceeding of a Motion to Lift the Automatic Stay, successfully reached a Settlement Agreement with the Oversight Board and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to secure the payment of up to $4.5 million dollars in accrued sick leave to a group of retired teachers.
  • AMPR et als v. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, et als, 18-BK-00134 (Docket No. 3914) Adversary Complaint for Declaratory and Injunctive Relief to compel the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to take protective measures as to public employees' retirement contributions under Law 106-2017. 
  • Order Modifying Automatic Stay of PROMESA to Permit the Processing of Employment Grievances and Arbitration Proceedings of CBA Counterparties (Docket No. 2692).  Successfully assisted clients in negotiating on behalf of AMPR and as co-counsel for AFT a Stipulation with the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and Oversight Board to allow the modification of the stay for the processing of employment grievances and arbitrations of Teachers and other public servants.
  • Holland Group v. Comisión del Puerto de Mayaguez, (2015WL1648967); Obtained Judgment dismissing tenant’s preliminary injunction to compel arbitration; obtained judgment granting a counterclaim to terminate a 60 year Lease and Development Agreement of the municipalities' port facilities; 
  • Monitronics International Inc., et al v. Best Alarm Inc., et als. Civil No. 17-01661, Successfully represented the interest of a client against alleged claims under the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016. 
  • Rivera Melendez v. Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, LLC, 730 F.3d 49 (1st Cir. 2013); Successfully obtained from the U.S. First Circuit of Appeals a Vacating Judgment remanding case in a matter of first impression, which clarified that the escalator principle governing reinstatement claims under USERRA apply to non-automatic, discretionary promotions missed during the time of service.
  • Lugo Berrios v. Citibank, N.A., 2013WL1314752 (D.P.R. 2013); Granting summary judgment dismissing claims of national-origin discrimination under ECOA and FHA against mortgage lender.
  • GMAC v Midway Sales & Car Rental, Inc., 2009 WL 2351440; Judgment affirming right of secured creditor under the Commercial Transactions Act to take possession of collateral granted under leasing inventory security agreement.
  • UDEM v. UBS Financial Services of Puerto Rico, 133 S. Ct. 2857, U.S. June 24, 2013, certiorari granted by the US Supreme Court to review US Court of Appeals’ opinion establishing de novo review standard over dismissal of complaint for failure to demand futility. Matter settled. (704 F.3d 155 (1st Cir. 2013)).  
  • Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de Manatí, Inc. v. LN Cash & Carry, Corp., CCD2013-0584; Obtained a consented judgment surrendering all collateral under a secured commercial loan and dismissing a lender’s liability counterclaim. 
  • Aventura Verde LLC v. Cine Coop, KAC2014-0171, Successfully reached a Settlement Agreement to recover from Distributor of Film Aventura Verde, revenues and profits under Distribution Contract. 
  • MD Distributors v. Microsurgical Technologies, et als, SJ2022CV03318, successfully represented the interest of the client on a distribution infringement claim, settling the claim with the principal and obtaining injunctive relief under Law 75 against a third party for any resale of the products. Obtained a judgment against the third party for pre-contractual damages, with money award, due to third party refusal to comply with agreement  informed to Court.


Representative Transactions


  • As part of the AMPR and AFT Legal Team our Firm successfully negotiated, in two (2) separate occasions, complex agreements with the Oversight Board and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico regarding the Teachers Retirement System Freeze  that would have provided over One Billion Dollars ($1,000,000,000.00) in direct and indirect Pension Benefits to Puerto Rico Teachers.   
  • We have represented Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de Manatí, Inc., in multiple transactions for the acquisition and sale of Mortgage Loan Portfolios in Secondary Market.
  • We have represented multiple Act 60 Investors in acquisitions of residences and commercial real estate in private financial transactions and through foreclosure proceedings.
  • We have represented Investors in Private Bridge Lending Transactions secured by mix of commercial real estate assets and residential properties exceeding 45 million dollars.
  • Provided legal advice to Lenders in the management and enforcement of Commercial Loan Administration. 
  • We have represented local business and investors in the acquisition of equity participations, Omnibus Asset Purchases in multiple jurisdictions, asset purchases and stock purchases in both, ongoing concerns and liquidations. 
  • We represent the interest of creditor's against avoidance actions commenced by the Trustee or Debtor in Possession in National Bankruptcies.
